Dr. Phu Nguyen is an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. He received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (2003) from Bach Khoa University HCMC Vietnam and a Master's degree in Engineering Science (2008) from the University of Melbourne. He earned his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from UC Irvine (2014).

He is founder of iRain application - real-time high-resolution satellite and crowdsourced rainfall observations for hydrologic and natural disaster management applications. iRain has received sponsorships from NASA and UNESCO and been well recognized in worldwide environmental engeneering field.

In addition, Phu has always been one of the most pro-active and brightest leaders, who have built and facilitated successfully multiple social and professional conferences for a network of more than 30,000 Vietnamese young professionals in the U.S. over the past 5 years.
